Want ROTC at CSAS? Check out the Sea Cadets
Over the years I have had several students come to me and let me know that they are interested in ROTC at CSAS. Interestingly enough, we have had an increase in students who have joined the military over the past four years. The Navy and Marines seem to be the favorite thus far even though some of the other branches of our military have also been chosen. Nevertheless, I have been exploring ways to make something like that happen at CSAS. It's doubtful due to funding issues that ROTC could become a program at this time, however there is a program out there that is comparable and maybe even better. The program is the U.S. Navy Sea Cadet Corp and we are looking for a few good men and women. I have spoken with the commanding officer, Lt. Stacy L. Kehoe, NSCC, who already has started two programs in Hamilton County and we are very excited to possibly bring this to CSAS. We are going to need five officers (adult civilian or military background) and a minimum of five cadets (students) to help us begin this program. This can include 6th graders through 12th graders. Lt. Kehoe described the program as the Boy Scouts on steriods. It sounds incredibly excitiing and it would be an extra-curricular activity here at CSAS, but we can't do it without you! If you are interested in being a part of this please call 423-209-5812 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know of your interest. We look forward to offering a new opportunity to our students and to help prepare them even more for their future!
