I attended Tennessee Temple University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education with proficiency in the areas of Biology and Bible. I received my master's degree from Arkansas State University as an instructional specialist in exceptional education.

I began my teaching career as a laboratory instructor for botany, zoology, and anatomy & physiology at Tennessee Temple University. This was followed by stay at home mommy time and working for the United States Postal Service. I am beginning my fourteenth year of teaching in Hamilton County. For the first nine years, I split time teaching in the regular classroom at both The Howard School and Lookout Valley Middle/High School. When both of those schools became full-time positions, I spent another three years just at Lookout Valley. This will be my second year at CSAS in exceptional education. I've enjoyed working with great people--teachers, parents, and students--at all of my schools, but I am greatly impressed at the level of parent involvement at CSAS.

I was born in Lakeland, Florida. Family circumstances moved me to Lexington, North Carolina, when I was two years old. That is where I grew up and attended high school. College brought me to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and I have resided in this area ever since. I am blessed to be married with four children (one of whom is deceased) and five grandchildren. My older children and grandchildren live in this area, and my youngest daughter lives in Durham, North Carolina, with her husband and young son. I have had the pleasure of working in different occupations; however, teaching and children are my passion.
