About Melisa Jones

Education: I graduated from UTC with a degree in Early Childhood and an Exceptional Education degree with an S.E D. endorsement. I also have an L.P.N. degree. I have been a teacher for 14 years, and I have been blessed to be at CSAS for 10 of those years.

Family: I will be married 20 years in July to my fantastic husband, Jay. God has blessed me with one son named Logan who is a third grader at CSAS. I live on a farm and have many animals. I have a dog named Hunter and three cats, Charlie, Oliver, and Ben Ten. I have four aquatic turtles, three gerbils, some chickens, a rooster, a potbellied pig, and whatever else might show up and need a home, since all of these animals came from rescued pet placement centers.

Hobbies:  I love kids, animals, and the outdoors, and my whole life is built around them. I collect snow globes and enjoy reading mysteries.

Favorite book as a child: My favorite book as a child was The Other Side of the Mountain. I loved this book because I think it would be fun to live in the wilderness inside a tree with the animals of the forest around as friends.

Favorite quote: It comes from my Grandmother Smith, and it's the motto at my house: "You take what you get and you don't pitch a fit!"

Favorite subject when you were a student: My favorite subject was reading. I read all the time! Not many people are blessed to get to do what they love everyday and get paid for it. I love my job! Teaching reading and opening up the world of the written word to a young mind is so rewarding.
