Dear Parents,
I would like to take a moment to welcome you to your child’s fourth grade year. I believe that what happens in our classroom this year will positively impact your child’s future as a reader and a lifelong learner. Your child’s time in fourth grade will be well spent. It will be a time of individual growth, exploration, deep thinking, and growing as a community of learners. Though fourth grade is hard work, we have a great time learning together. We are blessed with a unique and special learning environment, and I will make every minute here count.
Our classroom climate is governed by two key rules. The first rule is Respect. The second rule is to remember rule number one. Students have created other guidelines to create an environment conducive to learning and valuing the ideas and qualities of others. We will be sending home our grade level expectations, but it is our belief that if we view others through the lens of respect, this positive attitude will be universally reflected in our choices. I believe that communication between students, parents, and teachers is a key element in a successful learning experience. I am currently working on a classroom website as well as contributing information to the new, fabulous school website to keep you up to date and informed on events that will affect our class.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or celebrations. The best way to reach me is by email. My email address is Dalton_Jessica@hcde.org. As a grade level, we will be sending home orange parent communication folders on Fridays (and occasionally other times in the week). Until our new folders come in, you can look for important papers in our substitute “VIP Orange Folder.”
I am eager to start the year at CSAS with this fantastic group of students. Each class is unique and each individual student is a gift to be valued. I am looking forward to an exciting year of growth and I feel blessed with the privilege of guiding your child. With your help, we can work as a team to make this a productive and meaningful year.
Sincerely,
Jessica Dalton

nephew, Kaden
Hobbies: Reading, baking, softball, home improvement projects, running, spending time with family, gardening, church activities
Favorite sports team: Tennessee Volunteers!
Favorite book: My favorite book is Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. It is a classic portrayal of boldness and tenacity for standing up to the rest of the world’s injustices, though it may cost you everything and you may fail in the end.
Favorite quote: "Courage is not simply one of the virtues but the form of every virtue at the testing point." C.S. Lewis
Favorite subject when you were a student: In my career as a student, my high school courses are to ones that seemed to really shape me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and when I think about favorite subjects, I realized that more than what was taught in the class, it was who taught it that mattered. So my favorite subjects in school were History (of any denomination), Literature, and Apologetics. More importantly, Michael Pettit, J.R. Canes, Gary Lindley, and David Stanton are the teachers that most impacted my life.
