About Lisa Wilkes

Education: B.S. in Mathematics, cum laude, UTK (1988), M.Ed. in Secondary Mathematics with Licensure, UTC (1998)

Why are you at CSAS? I was originally hired to teach Personal Computing, which was later called Computer Literacy, to 9th Graders. I am proud to say that I successfully developed a rigorous College Project that benefited all high school students as they examined the requirements and options of post-secondary education. We also improved keyboarding skills. I have been a full-time mathematics teacher for the past four years. Mathematics is my passion and I've taught Algebra I, Honors Algebra II, Advanced Algebra and Trig, and I am currently teaching middle school students. This year I added Virtual School Algebra II and Math 8 - another adventure!

Family: I have two daughters, a new husband, two dogs and a cat.

Hobbies: Reading, cooking, listening to music

Favorite sports: My favorite sports include football, baseball and competitive swimming.

Favorite book: I love Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. It just opens the mind to the human ego and to possibilities.

Favorite quote: "Education is a progressive study of our own ignorance." Will Durant

Favorite subject when you were a student: Math (in college I took math classes as electives...) and geography.
