The National Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) was founded in 1897 in Washington, D.C., and was originally called the National Congress of Mothers. The group was concerned with the education, health and safety of children and youth, the same concerns the PTA has more than a century later. PTA is the largest volunteer organization in the United States with one purpose — to serve children, their families and their school communities.
At Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, we add another letter to our acronym in representation of our students. CSAS's Parent/Teacher/Student Association (PTSA) is an opportunity for all of the voices in our school community to be heard. Membership is only $5 per person, and proceeds fund teacher scholarships, campus improvements, investments in technology, and other resources that enhance the vibrant learning environment at CSAS.
