Dear CSAS;
They say that good things come to those with patience. This weekend many hours of hard work came to fruition in the completion of the Indigenous Species Tile Wall.
This masterpiece was a combination of efforts from our CSAS Elementary students, CSAS teachers and administration, PTSA and Mark Making. Mark Marking, a non-profit organization, headed by Executive Director Frances McDonald worked with the CSAS Administration and the CSAS PTSA Board to bring hands-on art experience to our Elementary students.
CSAS encourages and supports the arts. Approximately two years ago the PTSA Board, under the direction of then President Bruce Garner, recognized that our Elementary students needed more exposure to art education. In an effort to bring more art into the classroom PTSA reached out to the community and received funds and assistance from Mark Making and Corner Stone Bank to help make this project a reality. Mark Making worked with our students to create tiles in line with the study of work at the time.
I have attached pictures but my camera cannot do this wall justice. This is a MUST SEE for all parents, teachers, students and alumni. The wall is magnificent and proves that different sections of our CSAS community working together can plan, create and manufacture a priceless piece of art.
Special thanks go to Bruce Garner and his foresight of what this experience would mean for our students. Extra, extra special thanks goes out to Frances McDonald for all her dedication, artistic talent and love of sharing her abilities with others to see and create this beautiful wall. Finally another thank you to Ann Marie Fitzsimmons who worked tirelessly to ensure that communication flowed, found extra workers, helped with kilns and any other items thrown her way.
Thank you to all who had a part in creating this wonderful piece of art! I encourage each of you to take a look at the wall. Very soon we will be celebrating the wall with an unveiling ceremony. Be sure to watch for news of this event.
