About Tim Born
Education: I went to Lakeview High School many years ago. I have a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Bachelor of Arts in Music, both from Mercer University. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lee University.
Why are you at CSAS? I'm here to teach students and also to learn from top-notch faculty members. Similarly, I hope the students can teach me a thing or two, and maybe my fellow faculty members can learn some things from me, too! We're a family here at CSAS, and I hope to do my part.
Family: I have a wonderful family and a persnickety cat.
Hobbies: I've been known to wander around any wooded area I can find, especially Chickamauga Park and Point Park. I enjoy politics, political theory, and TV when it's good.
Favorite sport: I love high school football. The smell, the marching band, the crowd and food. All of it is great!
Favorite book: My favorite philosophical book is A Preface to Morals written in 1929. My favorite fiction would be a tie between Dandelion Wine, The Great Gatsby, 1984, and Atlas Shrugged.
Favorite quote: "You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them." Ray Bradbury
Favorite subject when you were a student: English. It was the only subject where actual debate and discussion took place. I loved band as well.
